# Third-Party Notices Orbit MD is licensed under the Functional Source License, Version 1.1 (FSL-1.1-ALv2) — see [LICENSE](LICENSE). Orbit MD itself is **source-available**, not "open source." This file lists the third-party components distributed **with** Orbit MD and their licences. Those licences are separate from Orbit's own licence, and their terms (notably the attribution/notice requirements of MIT, BSD, Apache-2.0, OFL, and the copyleft terms of GPL) continue to govern those components. > **Dependency coverage.** The tables below list the **primary** components and their > attributions; the licence-type summaries reflect the **full transitive set** verified > for this release (Go: 122 modules; frontend: 105 production packages). Regenerate > before each release with `go-licenses report ./...` (Go binary) and > `npx license-checker --production` (`frontend/`), and ship each component's verbatim > `LICENSE`/`NOTICE` file in the distributed bundle. Per-component licence texts also > travel in each dependency's source tree. --- ## A. Compiled into the Orbit MD application (Go) | Component | Licence | Copyright | |---|---|---| | github.com/wailsapp/wails/v2 | MIT | © Lea Anthony and Wails contributors | | github.com/dop251/goja | MIT | © Dmitry Panov and goja contributors | | github.com/evanw/esbuild | MIT | © Evan Wallace | | github.com/bmatcuk/doublestar/v4 | MIT | © Bob Matcuk | | gopkg.in/yaml.v3 | Apache-2.0 (portions MIT) | © Canonical Ltd.; libyaml-derived portions © Kirill Simonov | The full Go module graph for this release is **122 modules**, all under permissive licences — predominantly **MIT** and **BSD-3-Clause**, including `github.com/labstack/echo`, `github.com/gorilla/websocket`, `github.com/samber/lo`, `github.com/dlclark/regexp2`, `github.com/valyala/fasttemplate` (MIT), `github.com/go-sourcemap/sourcemap` (BSD-3-Clause), `github.com/godbus/dbus` (BSD-2-Clause), and the `golang.org/x/*` packages (`crypto`, `net`, `sys`, `text` — BSD-3-Clause, © The Go Authors). **No copyleft (GPL/LGPL/MPL) modules are compiled into the binary.** ## B. Bundled into the Orbit MD frontend (JavaScript) | Component | Licence | Copyright | |---|---|---| | react, react-dom | MIT | © Meta Platforms, Inc. and affiliates | | react-markdown | MIT | © Titus Wormer | | remark-gfm | MIT | © Titus Wormer | | @ungap/structured-clone | ISC | © Andrea Giammarchi | The frontend's production dependencies for this release are **104 MIT** packages (the `unified` / `remark` / `micromark` / `hast` ecosystems and their support libraries, © Titus Wormer and contributors) and **one ISC** package (`@ungap/structured-clone`). ## C. Bundled fonts | Component | Licence | Copyright | |---|---|---| | Nunito (nunito-v16-latin-regular.woff2) | SIL Open Font License 1.1 (OFL-1.1) | © The Nunito Project Authors (https://github.com/googlefonts/nunito) | ## D. Bundled runtime binaries — *pending, not yet shipped* > These are **not currently bundled**. Activate each section when the corresponding > feature ships, and include the component's verbatim licence file in the app bundle. ### D.1 git (planned — zero-install / bundled-git) Orbit MD will bundle a build of **git** (Windows: MinGit; macOS/Linux: a portable git build), invoked as a **separate executable** (Orbit shells out to it; git's code is not linked into Orbit). git is distributed under the **GNU General Public License, version 2** (with some components under LGPL-2.1 and BSD licences). Because git is conveyed under GPLv2, the Orbit MD distribution must: 1. Include git's complete, verbatim licence text (`COPYING` from the bundled git), and 2. Make the **complete corresponding source code** of the exact bundled git version available, per GPLv2 §3. **Written offer (to include with the distribution):** > The version of git distributed with Orbit MD is free software; its complete > corresponding source code is available under the GNU General Public License, > version 2. For a copy of that source code for the exact version bundled with this > release, contact us via the form at **https://orbitmarkdown.com/contact**. This > offer is valid for three years > from the date you received this copy of Orbit MD. *(Preferred alternative to a written offer: ship the git source archive, or a pinned link to the exact upstream release tag, alongside the binary in the distribution.)* ### D.2 Node.js (planned — full live-site preview) Orbit MD will bundle **Node.js** to run the user's site build for the full live preview, invoked as a **separate executable**. Node.js is distributed under the **MIT** licence and itself aggregates components under permissive licences, including V8 (BSD-3-Clause), libuv (MIT), OpenSSL (Apache-2.0), ICU (Unicode licence), and zlib (zlib licence). Include Node's `LICENSE` file (which reproduces all of these) in the bundle. If a package manager is bundled (npm — Artistic-2.0; or pnpm — MIT), include its licence too. --- ## Full licence texts ### MIT License ``` Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software. Full text: https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0 — include a verbatim copy in the distribution, along with any `NOTICE` files shipped by those components. ### SIL Open Font License 1.1 The OFL-1.1 governs the bundled Nunito font. Full text: https://openfontlicense.org — include a verbatim copy (the font's `OFL.txt`) in the distribution. The OFL requires that the font's copyright/licence notice be included and that the font not be sold on its own; bundling it inside an application is permitted. ### GNU General Public License, version 2 The GPLv2 governs the bundled git (when shipped). Full text: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/gpl-2.0.txt — ship git's own verbatim `COPYING` file in the distribution together with the written offer of source in §D.1.
