Orbit MD for Gatsby sites

Works with a short content map — tell Orbit where your Markdown is and which template renders it.

WorksNeeds a content map

Gatsby has no content schema for Orbit to read, so you add a content map to orbit.config.yaml: where each kind of content lives, the template that renders it, and — if you like — its fields. Without a field list, Orbit works the fields out from your pages.

Posts that live in their own folder (content/blog/my-post/index.md, with images beside it) are supported: new posts get their own folder, and images uploaded in Orbit go into it. Images in static/ are referenced from the site root.

Tested on Gatsby 5 with three sites, all in Orbit Extras ready to use: the official blog starter, a business site with products and news (Barcadia, moved off Contentful onto Markdown), and a Material Design blog written in MDX.
